Fall of the Bastille - celebrations continue for up to 10 days
Bastille Day, which marks the fall of the Bastille in Paris on 14 July 1789 at the height of the French Revolution, features a military parade in the capital. One can see historical reenactments at Marae Arahurahu, a canoe race along the Papeete waterfront, horce racing at the Pirae track, and traditional dance competitions.
