Regional Workshop on Green Tourism Action
Strategy 26th October 2007, Nuku’alofa,
Tonga
The one day workshop is a key part of the development of a Green Tourism
Action Strategy for the South Pacific by south-pacific.travel
Issues relating to Green Tourism are central to the future development of the
sector in the region; the Pacific has many advantages in relation to Green
Tourism products but equally consumer demands, global trends and changing
government policies in key source markets have the potential to impact upon
future tourism demand and growth in a significant way. The workshop will
examine market and global trends and identify potential impacts, particularly in
relation to climate change, carbon emissions and tourism in the South
Pacific. Strategies will be presented and discussed which will form the
basis of pragmatic actions that can be implemented at a regional and country
level to address issues associated with Green Tourism and climate change.
The workshop will be facilitated by Mr Ross Hopkins
and Dr Susanne Becken of TRIP Consultants who have been engaged to develop the
Green Tourism Action Strategy
